Welcome to Room 30's Class Website

Dear Fourth Grader,

Welcome to Martin Luther King School! I am Mrs. Hutchinson and I am the homeroom teacher in Room 30, my team teacher is Mrs. Paust in Room 31.  I will be the Math and Science teacher and Mrs. Paust will teach Literacy and Social Studies.

Our first day of school will be Wednesday, September 4th. Classroom doors are open each morning at 7:45 a.m. with the late bell at 8:05 a.m.  Dismissal each day is at 2:20 p.m.  Our first day of school is a full day so please be sure to bring your lunch or lunch money.

A list of supplies for fourth grade is posted on the King web site.  When purchasing your supplies remember to buy some extra things to have at home as well.  Keeping a box full of items such as pencils, highlighters, erasers, protractor, and a sharpener will make it easier to complete your homework each evening.  There are many organizers out there but you may want to create your own and decorate it with pictures of your favorite things, goals, or inspirational quotes. You will soon learn my favorite word is: Persevere!

Please continue to practice those math facts as you will be expected to know them. Take time to read a book in a comfy spot, relax, and enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. I can't wait to meet you!

Math Expected Behaviors

I will give my best effort every day.

I will persevere when problems are challenging.

I will explain my thinking and justify my answers.

I will think about my classmates’ answers and politely agree or disagree.

I will raise my hand and communicate what I don’t understand.

Our class uses Moby Max as an additional resource to improve our skills and strategies in Math.  Students will be assigned their own user name and password.  Parents and students will have the ability to view the progress being made. Students are encouraged to utilize the Math tab on Moby Max several times each week.
