Happy New Year! I can tell that 2020 is going to be a fantastic year. During the month of January, students in my literacy classes will dive into a study of literary essay. Students will begin by crafting a literary essay together as a class based on an inspirational video. Then, students will create a literary essay based on their analysis of a short story. Students are encouraged to continue reading independent novels during the month, and we will also include a round of book club discussions near the end of January/early February. Needless to say, we will be productive and busy during this winter month :)

Here are a few reminders and upcoming events for this month of January:

Remember to bring coats, hats, and gloves to school. Students will be going outside on most days for recess.

Check my school website for homework and event updates (on the calendar)

Continue to read at home for 20 minutes each night.
