From the Assistant Principal

Dear Martin Luther King Family,

Welcome to the opening of what promises to be a wonderful school year!  At this time of year, there is great anticipation of what is to come and I am as excited as MLK's teachers and staff members for the start of the school year.

Martin Luther King Intermediate School is destined for amazing things during the 2016-2017 school year. The dedication and passion of our teachers and staff along with the gifts and talents of our students allow us to strive for excellence. Together, we make a strong MLK family. The ongoing support of your child is greatly appreciated as he/she enters the classroom, learns, and grows throughout the year.

Throughout the school year, I look forward to working closely with all of our families. I encourage everyone to join the PTO and participate in as many PTO/school-sponsored functions as possible in order to make our school a successful one. During Back to School Night you'll have a chance to see the school and meet the teachers. School procedures will be discussed and you'll have an opportunity to meet your child's teachers to hear about the fascinating things that will take place in your child's classrooms.

As always, we expect the best from our students.  The motto at King School is "It's Cool to be KIND at King." Students are encouraged to strive to be the best they can be, with regards to both academics and their characters. We at MLK have high expectations for our students and we embrace the challenges the future may bring. The student code of conduct, which outlines expectations in order to foster positive student development, can be viewed on the districts website.

A lot of time and energy has been put into the preparation for the 2016-2017 school year.  The dedicated staff of MLK have been working diligently over the summer to get ready for the upcoming year. On behalf of the Martin Luther King faculty and staff, I would like to welcome our new fourth grade families, our returning fifth grade families, and everyone new to Piscataway. It's going to be an amazing school year!

I look forward to working with you and your children throughout the school year.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Blanshaft
