We are off and running....
It was a pleasure to meet with you during our Back To School Night.

In Literacy, students were introduced to Readers and Writers Workshops.  In these workshops, students discovered the benefits of embracing their unique ideas, interests, and abilities.  Through our balanced literacy program, students will work on various skills and strategies.  Students will focus on the strategies that good readers use as decoding phonics, making inferences, identifying character traits, and identifying structural elements of a text.
In Grammar, students have thus far learned to recognize the four types of sentences. They are presently working on identifying simple and complete subjects and predicates.

In Social Studies, students worked on their geography skills.  They are presently creating their own maps of New Jersey.  In Science, we will learn about the Scientific Method.  Students will enjoy doing their first lab report on "The Bubbling Chalk."  We alternate between science and social studies during each marking period.
