Currently in workshop:

In literacy, we are currently working in historical fiction book clubs. The students are focusing specifically on developing ideas about characters, determining themes, inferring within a text, and analyzing perspectives as they talk and write about their reading. Students are also learning how to turn to nonfiction sources to discover more about the time in period in which their book took place. Each book club came up with a mascot and Book Club Constitution of rules they will follow. It is each student’s responsibility to come prepared to book club meetings with discussion notes ready!

As we focus on reading and writing about our reading in school, students are continuing to practice their formal writing skills for homework. Students will be writing narratives and opinion essays, little-by-little each night. I have broken this down into manageable tasks. However, if this is ever too much on any given night, please send me a quick note and we will find time in school or provide extra time at home. Students should continue to utilize the revision and editing checklists to make their writing the best it could be!

Please check the Calendar for homework, tests, quizzes,
and additional important events.
