Currently in workshop:

This marking period, in literacy, the students will be writing informational books. We will be working in teams to conduct research on the Revolutionary War. Students will be collecting notes in preparation for this task. At home, it would be helpful for students to explore this topic through books, websites, online videos, etc.The students are encouraged to take home their notebooks to continue gathering notes about the Revolutionary War and their focus topic.

In their informational books, the students will be learning how to elaborate by adding details to their writing. They will be bringing their information alive by adding short stories inside their nonfiction text, and explaining why their topic is important by applying everything learned in our persuasive writing unit. The students will be learning how to write effective introductions and conclusions, how to use nonfiction text features in their writing, and how to effectively quote from professional sources.
