Welcome to our classroom website. Check here often for important information regarding Piscataway, M.L. King School, and Room 28!
This is my thirteenth year teaching in Piscataway! I have taught first, second, and third grade. This is my third year teaching fourth grade. I'm very excited to work with the fourth graders and help them adjust to a new building. It is my hope that I make their first year at M.L. King School a memorable one. I'm also looking forward to working alongside Ms. Froio as we embark on the journey of team teaching.
About Mrs. Fiumara's Education:
I grew up in Central Jersey and attended NJ public schools from kindergarten to twelfth grade. After high school, I received my BA in English from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut and my MA in Elementary Education from the same university. I also hold a "Teacher of English as a Second Language" endorsement. One day, I hope to finish my second master's degree.
Fun Facts About Mrs. Fiumara:
1. I LOVE to travel and learn about different cultures. I studied abroad in Ireland and had the opportunity to live there for a semester.
2. My favorite color is green.
3. I enjoy going to concerts and broadway plays. Some of my favorite concerts and plays have been: Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Beyonce, Jersey Boys, and Mary Poppins.
4. I enjoy shopping and can never buy just one thing at Target.
5. I like to read, but really enjoy writing. I hope to write a book one day.
6. In fourth grade, I refused to come to school for a day because I was having trouble in math. Luckily, I had a great teacher who assured me it would all be okay. And it was.
My Promise:
My classroom (both virtual and in-person) is a safe, positive, and fun place to learn and succeed. I believe that all students are capable of learning when they try their best and use persistence. I am always here to lend a helping hand and be a good listener. I expect the students to do the same. Get ready to have fun, make new friends, and learn lots of interesting things!
