Worms help M.L. King classes dig into nature and communication

Posted Date: 5/09/25 (2:44 PM)

Students from Nicole Bal's and Lily Kaufman's classes at Martin Luther King Intermediate School dug deep into nature and communication skills with some help from their squiggly friends! Students observed real worms up close, which made for a fun and engaging hands-on experience. Throughout the activity, led by speech specialist Julia Reyes, students practiced key communication and language skills, including requesting, turn-taking, describing, classifying, sentence formulation, and using augmentative and alternative communication in a natural, meaningful, and authentic way. To top it off, they enjoyed a sweet surprise at the end: gummy worms.
